HSPP Fee Schedule
As was announced in April 2006 and July 2006 by the Vice President for Research, Graduate Studies, and Economic Development, a new fee structure has been implemented for research requiring review by the University of Arizona, Institutional Review Board (IRB). The fee applies to the review of any new industry-sponsored protocols involving human subjects. The amount required for these projects is $2,000. The $2,000 fee covers the initial and continuing review, as well as the subsequent review of amendments and adverse event reports for the duration of the study. The fee is paid up-front at the time of the initial review.
The $2,000 IRB fee is paid on an Interdepartmental Billing Form at the time the project is submitted to the Human Subjects Protection Program office for review. As of February 1, 2007, new projects will not be reviewed until full payment is received.
Investigators who wish to have a project reviewed by the Western Institutional Review Board (WIRB) are required to submit an Interdepartmental Billing Form at the time the project is submitted to the Human Subjects Protection Program office for local context review. The amount required for these projects is $1,000. The fee covers the administrative costs associated with the local context review as well as the ongoing maintenance of the file.
